We are now a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) this does not however change our approach to being Lions. We continue to work in our community serving in the best way we can. We have planned some events for the year ahead,. The Food Festival where we have pitch kindly supplied by the Food Festival courtesy of Lotte Duncan, this is joint enterprise with Rotary. Our Christmas Fundraising is in hand and we are looking to run our sleigh in conjunction with partners. But before then we have the annual Fair parking and we will be giving away a new initiative neon green wristbands for children where the parents can write their mobile number on the band and place on the children’s wrist in case they get lost, this has been used in other parts of the country and been widely appreciated by parents.
Then on the 2nd September we have our Visually Impaired Bowling Competition at the Thame Bowls club starting at 10 am, this was great success last time and we hope to repeat fun that was had. The money raised will be distributed between Blind Veterans UK and Calibre Audion Library. so come along and see how people with sight impairment can play to an unbelievable standard.
We continue to need new members going forward and to that end we are embarking on a recruitment campaign, serving the community is a worthwhile activity, the fun, friendship and self worth is what makes it all worthwhile. If you are interested use the contact form or telephone the number shown.
We have planned a progressive programme of events for this Lions year, helping the young people in Thame and the surrounding area, providing community service for our older residents and other specialist groups with disabilities.
